Chris
Teacher
Chris has been a member of the J.A.Z. Dance and More family since his daughter, Emma, was three years old (2016). Chris was bitten by the “theatre bug” in his middle school theatre program and went on to enjoy performing throughout his high school career. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre in 2010. He went on to receive a Master’s degree in Drama Education (K-12) in 2012. During his time at Ohio State, he had the opportunity to perform in various semi-professional performances, in acting, design, and direction. After graduation, Chris taught in Columbus City Schools at West High School. He re-established and implemented a student-driven educational theatre program full of student original works and engaging theatrical opportunities and productions. Chris made the difficult decision and left West High School in 2018 and joined on at Whetstone High School. He co-created and artistically directs the mainstage productions for Whetstone Academy of Performing Arts. In 2019 they presented Hairspray the Broadway musical and were set to produce Beauty and the Beast this Spring. Chris thoroughly enjoys the free world of improvisation and directing scenes - pushing actors beyond their potential using Stanislavski methods. Chris loves engaging his theatre classes with kinesthetically-driven ensemble work in which every student can be successful by participating. He feels blessed to be among such an incredible staff of artists here at J.A.Z. and looks forward to seeing your student(s) in the Acting For The Dancer class!

Megan
Teacher
Megan Gossard began dancing at the age of 6. She spent her early years at studios in the Columbus area dancing tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and tumbling. She competed in local and national dance competitions throughout her teens receiving numerous awards and metals. She has always loved the learning and teaching process, as she began assisting her dance teachers with additional classes at the age of 8, and took on teaching classes at 16. Megan worked at various studios around Columbus teaching recreational and competitive dance, winning choreography awards. She performed with event companies, including dancing at a Cleveland Cavaliers game, and judged local and national competitions. Megan attended The Ohio State University from 2001-2005 graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education. There she gained additional experience with modern and hip hop, and a bit of Ghanaian dance style and Cunningham technique. She had the privilege of working with some amazing teachers including Susan Hadley of Mark Morris Dance Group, Karen Eliot of Merce Cunningham Dance Company, John Giffin of Les Grands Ballets Canadians, Victoria Uris of Paul Taylor Dance Company, and many others. Later she worked in different studios and venues teaching all forms of dance within her experience and eventually opened a studio in London, Ohio called Madison Dance. There she was the sole owner, operator, coordinator and choreographer in the beginning, eventually bringing in a partner and other dance teachers. Although the studio closed after 4 years, her students competed in various local competitions, receiving gold and platinum medals as well as category and age group overall awards. One of her favorite moments with Madison Dance was teaching her students the choreography to Thriller and taking to the streets and local businesses of London, Ohio dressed as zombies on Halloween night and dancing for locals. Students and spectators alike really enjoyed the fun and the studio was front page in the local newspaper. After the studio closed, Megan relocated to Reynoldsburg, Ohio, were she began her family, welcoming her daughter, Theia Jane, to the world. Megan is eager and excited to join the J.A.Z. Dance and More family to spread loving awareness and knowledge of her passion of dance with the students, families and local community.
